Quick Writes

Information

  • ​Each school day students should spend about 10 minutes preparing their responses to a prompt.
  • Students are to respond in writing with at least one paragraph.
  • There will be a discussion of the daily prompt.
  • Students may work ahead if they wish.
  • The Quick Write written response and the oral participation are graded in the ‘Passed’ or ‘Not Passed’ style.
  • Passed  =  Provided good content for 10 minutes of work and meaningful oral contributions.
  • Not Passed  =  Content was not satisfactory for 10 minutes of work and/or oral contributions were not meaningful.
  • The Quick Write grade will appear in the Takes Responsibility and Perseveres in Learning section of the Report Card.

  2. What is not true about the text?
  3. What is true about the text?
  4. What am I confused about in the text?
  5. What do you agree with?
  6. What do you disagree with?
  7. What connections to life or another subject can you make from the text?
  8. What arguments could be made against this Quick Write?
  9. What would the rebuttals be to these arguments?
  10. How do you feel about this Quick Write and why?
  11. What inconsistencies, contradictions, errors in thinking, or logic are there?
  12. How could you benefit from the information in this Quick Write?
