- Learn the multiplication facts from 0 x 0 = 0 through 12 x 12 = 144 so that you can recall all of them in less than four minutes.

- Most students only need to learn 29 facts or less. Let me explain.
- Most students know that any number times zero equals zero.
- Most students know that any number times one equals the factor being multiplied by one.
- Most students know that any number times two equals twice the factor being multiplied by two.
- Most students know how to count by fives, so the five times table is easy for them.
- Most students know that any number times ten is that number with a zero after it.
- Most students know that any number, one through nine, times 11, is the double of the factor multiplied by 11.
- Most students know that the commutative property states that the order that the factors are multiplied does not change the product. e.g. 3 x 7 = 21 and 7 x 3 = 21
- If we were to take out all of the facts that most students know, there would only be 29 facts left.
- Look at the chart below. I have highlighted all the facts that most students know, leaving the 29 facts.
You may already know some of the 29 facts on the chart.
It would not take very long to make flashcards of the 29 or less facts that you don’t know and learn them.
