Herotodus

     Herodotus (c. 484 – 425/413 BCE) was a Greek historian famous for his work Histories. He is considered The Father of History by many historians and the Roman writer Cicero.

Directions

Three By Three Club (3 x 3 Club)
  • On the first day of the week, students should read the assigned material.
  • The material assigned will be discussed in class on the second day of the week.
  • On the third day of the week, students are to take and submit notes on the material assigned.
  • Students may work ahead of schedule if they wish.
  • Students may test out of a Chapter in Health & Fitness by scoring 80% or higher on a Chapter Test.  If the student scores 80% or higher on the Chapter Test then they do not have to do any of the assignments related to that Chapter and can immediately move to the next Chapter.
  • If the student scores below 80% on the Chapter Test then they have to complete the assignments that are related to the material that they answered incorrectly on the Chapter Test.  When the student completes those assignments they can take the Chapter Retest.  ​
  • Health and Fitness grades will appear in the Health section of the Report Card.
  • Students who score a 3 or a 4 on three consecutive tests are in the ‘3 x 3 Club’.
  • Students who are in the 3 x 3 Club can prepare for the next test in any way they choose.
  • Students who are in the 3 x 3 Club don’t have to tell Mr. Martocchio how they are preparing for the next test, but if they do, Mr. Martocchio will record, in The Student’s Records, that they did some preparation.
  • If a student does not tell Mr. Martocchio about any of their preparation for the next test, Mr. Martocchio will record, ‘n/a’  in The Student’s Records, for the weeks of preparation before the test.​

Retaking Tests

  • Students may retake a test if they are not happy with their score.
  • Tests can be retaken in the following subjects: Health, History/Social Science, and Math.
  • The student is required to turn in their original test and will receive the appropriate grade for that test.
  • The student is to then study to prepare to take another test on the subject.
  • Mr. Martocchio will create another test on the subject.
  • The student will take that test.
  • The scores from the first and second test will be averaged together for a final grade for the two tests.
  • Students can retake a test as many times as they wish.
  • All tests retaken on the subject will be averaged together for the final grade on that group of tests.
